I need a bakery/restaurant on the west side that serves/has Angel Food Cake

A weird request - I know.

It's my wife's favorite dessert (even though we only eat it once every four or five years).

She asked that I find a place that we can hit after dinner on her birthday. The locale itself isn't that important, as I haven't decided yet where I'm taking her.

If anyone has any ideas, I'd greatly appreciate it. I'm a male after all (which means that the procrastination gene is strong), and her birthday is Tuesday.

Thanks and cheers,

  1. Angel food cake is fairly easy to make at home (and you can add personal touches to it... maybe edible flowers, some fresh summer fruits, etc.) -- and I don't see any restaurants that serves it (likely because of the stigma of the food associated with the styrofoam variety sold in some stores.)

Alternatively, you can go buy one at an upscale market (less likely to have the styrofoam type) and decorate it yourself.

    Good luck!

    1. My Whole Foods Market in Sherman Oaks sells them, and I would expect that all locations would do likewise, but a call ahead to verify would be appropriate.

      1. Whole Foods at Columbus Circle has it.

        1. Thanks - making one is really no biggie (I'm an aspiring chef).

It was more of an attempt to be part of the evening - thanks a bunch for everyone's replies though...
