Great food in Vancouver-review
Everyone has been so incredibily helpful in their suggestions of where to go and what to try. I wanted to tell of some of the great food this city has to offer. It is pretty incredible, I have yet to have one bad meal, or even one bad dish, really.
Go Fish - Hard to find, but so worth the trip! Small fish and chips shack just at the end of w. 1st ave. right on the water off the bike path at fishermans wharf. There is no sign, but there is a sign to buy fresh fish from a small wharf and Go Fish is right there just above it. We did not actually order the fish and chips, although many (and I mean many, people love this place, small as it is) were enjoying them. But we did have the oyster po'boy and the fish tacos (tacones they call them). The best fish taco I have ever had! Made with salmon, perfectly grilled, great flavor. The po'boy, is very different from any you've had before. But it melts in your mouth with big, plump, juicy oysters and a sauce that
is heaven. Very rich and buttery. It was a Sat. and very crowded, but worth the wait. Owned by Gordon Martin, who is the chief at Bin 941 and 942 (both great tapas, wine bars with wonderful atmophere and energy).

Stepho's - Greek restaurant - This place gets a line out front every night, all evening long. But the line moves fast and the portions are huge for the price, as well as being delicious. We weren't sure at first, being so chaotic and busy. First we got an marinated octopus starter, which was meaty and rich. Big hunks of octopus. Not your typical octopus salad, very good. Try their specialty drink the Ceaser. Salty, spicey goodness and goes well with the octopus. They bring out great pita bread with the orders, fluffy and warm. The roast lamb is amazing. Huge shank of lamb that appears over done but is in actuality perfectly chard on the outside seeling in tender, perfectly cooked, gently flavored, delicate meat falling of the bone. This is on top of a huge amount of rice, great vegetable gulash, that is tomato based, good lemon roasted potatos and greek salad. Even better the next day when I had the left overs for Lunch. We also tryed the Pork Souvlaki which had a lot of flavor and is also served with huge amounts of rice, etc...
The house red was fine, good with the meats.
