Archeo in Distillery District?

Has anyone been to Archeo in the Distillery District? I'm thinking of going there for lunch on Friday. I know the Brick Bakery is good but I'm looking for more of a sit-down meal. Any other recs in the DD?

  1. I was there for a function and was pleasantly surprised with the quality of the food. My experience with restaurants n the Distillery District (excluding Perigee) has been mediocre at best. Although we did not order off the regular menu becuase it was a private funciton, the food was very fresh and delicious. Please give it a try and report back!

Was there last night and had a great meal.
Mozarrella di bufala was nice opener
Gnocchi with pancetta and sage was phenomenal! Best I've ever had at any restaurant.
Other's around me had Lamb shanks, beef tenderloin, seafood linguine. All well received.

Seems like fairly standard Italian fare, but Very well executed. Portions are fair, and price is reasonable.

      Apps: 7 - 12
      Pastas: 10 - 15
      Pizzas: 10 - 15
      Mains: 18 - 25

      I'd go again.

    2. Was this the place that used to be the Pasta Bar? And then something else before it became Archeo?

You might be right I think the site originally was 1832 Restaurant, then Distillery Canteen and now Archeo

      2. Ended up there last night for a late dinner on their patio. While all the food was good I was dissapointed by the selection on the menu. There was a large choice of Appetizers about 10 but then there was only Pannini's, Pasta & Pizza with about 4 or 5 under each. None seemed overly creative.

They also had someone playing live music in the corner but they had the amp turned up way too loud as we could not have a conversation and we were one of the furthest tables from the speaker...

        1. Although Archeo is a restaurant with nice decoration, but the food and service were terrible. I took my parents over there and they were very disappointed. I ended up paying 50 bucks per person for the worst italian food ever. Stay away!

          1. Since reviews tend to be a bit mixed on Archeo - could someone recommend some decent dining options in the Distillery? I've never had dinner there or spent more than an hour there [I was photographing an event] and I'm really curious. I've heard of Perigee, but that's all.
