Best Birthday Cake in West L.A.

My sister's birthday is Aug. 2, and I want to order a delicious (NOT too sweet) birthday cake for her birthday party. My budget is around $25 ($30 is ok). Does anyone know a good place in West L.A.?

Thanks in advance!

  1. We just has a beautiful Yellow cake with buttercream frosting from Bluebird Bakery in Culver City.

a few folks I know consider Bluebird the best cake that seems homemade they have ever had.

    The Bluebird Bakery
    8572 National Boulevard
    Culver City, California 90232
    (310) 841-0939

Buttercake Bakery has some decent baked goods I've had some of their cupcakes which were good.

    Buttercake Bakery
    10595 W Pico Blvd,
    Los Angeles, CA 90064
    (310) 470-6770

If you are looking for a whipped cream and Strawberry cake try Angel Maid Bakery on Centinella near Culver City.

    Angel Maid Bakery
    4538 S Centinela Ave
    Los Angeles, CA 90066
    (310) 915-2078

    Good Luck and take care

I was presented with the red velvet/cream cheese frosting cake from Bluebird. Ohhhhh soooo goooood. So incredibly moist, and decadant but not too decadant cream cheese frosting. But I'm pretty sure that cake runs above the $30 budget.

    2. Mousse Fantasy cake shop on Sawtelle makes really great not too sweet cakes. In fact, since their pastries are geared towards an asian palette all their cakes are not too sweet and really delicious. they now share a space with beard papa so it's a bit confusing but they're still there.

      1. How many in the birthday party? Susina's Bakery make excellent not-too-sweet birthday cakes -- though may be pushing on your budget depending on cake size ($25 for 7", serves 6, $35 for 9", serves up to 10).

My fave is the Berry Blossom (vanilla sponge brushed with orange liqueur, with fresh berries, white choc. mousse, and meringue crumbles,) but I don't think you can go wrong with any of their choices.

        Bakery menu here:

        1. I second Susina - their chocolate bear cake was a huge hit at my birthday party - very light, not too sweet.

          1. I second Angel Maid. They make a good chocolate mousse cake that's not too sweet. It's on Centinela near Culver and Centinela.
