Try La Cantina for mid-priced Italian in an intimate setting.
        Its on 8th and Jane.

For well made drinks and small bites Employees Only on Hudson and Christopher.

For Rustic but formal French American try Mas off Varick on Bedford (I think).

I agree with Mary's Fish Camp. One of my favorites.

For Vegitarian bites and Coffee in a super casual atmosphere try S'Nice on 8th just south of 13th street.

          Chocolate Bar - retro chocolate/dessert spot (cheap-moderate)
Cones - good ice cream spot (moderate)
Cru - great wine list and food (pricey)
Lassi - good Indian (especially their namesake drink; inexpensive)
