Chinatown Brasserie

Hey hounds anyone been going tonight?

  1. I went last week and had a really nice dinner with family. It's standard chinese food, made with really good ingredients. Don't expect anything to blow you away- just expect good chinese in a really hip environment (at the price the neighborhood and style of dining commands)

I think most of the complaints are from people who expect the food to be three times as good as food 1/3 the price in other parts of town- and this isn't really the case. (There are better places for much cheaper prices... but they are in not as popular neighborhoods, and don't have as hip an atmosphere). It's just a fun place to go- if you like those kind of places...

I would definetely recommend going with as many people as possible so you can order more dishes (it's all family style). I recommend any of the dumplings, and the peking duck.

For pictures of our dinner check out:

    1. i went there when it first opened and truly despised the place, top to bottom. If you do a search, you'll find my very negative review, as well as some dissenting opinions from people who had far better experiences.

Personally, you couldn't pay me to eat there again.

I also should point out that personally i find the sometimes-praised decor to be tacky and quite the opposite of "hip."

      1. i loved the dumplings and general tso. would definitely go back. It is a lot better than mainland.

          1. CB is two entirely different restaurants under one roof.

Joe Ng is the very well-regarded and well-known dim sum chef.

Someone else is responsible for the rest of the menu.

As you might expect, the dim sum is highly regarded, the rest of the restaurant is controversial.
