Buying Prosciutto in Grocery Store in LB

Anyone know of a great place to buy prosciutto in Long Beach at a fair price? I saw them at Wholesome Choice in Irvine; however, I wouldn't go there to buy prosciutto, so I'm thinking the turnover rate isn't that great there.

I'm lucky enough to live three blocks from this place, but you can still buy AMAZING Prosciutto di Parma, di San Daniele, Speck, and Cotto online.

Do you have a Trader Joe's? It's sliced thin like Costco's, but not as much quantity!

I know that this may sound strange, but I found a great product at Costco. It is a Citterio Prosciutto package. It is obviously sliced with sheets of some type of platic seperating the product. It is really good. Not sure if there is a Costco near you. If so check it out.

you could always do it the easy way and go to bristol farms. they usually have both parma and san daniele. also, if you're in a pinch (or just going to be cooking with it), trader joe's has pre-sliced volpi, which i find works just fine for most purposes (other than eating plain, of course).

I bought prosciutto at Bristol Farms a couple of weeks ago, fresh off a trip to Italy. While it didn't compare to the quality of what I had there, it satisfied the craving. Unless you're buying large quantities, the tissue paper-thin slices shouldn't set you back too much, even at $16 or $17/lb.

Santa Fe importers on Santa Fe, north of Anaheim Street. All sorts of Italian imports.

There's also a little Italian deli off of Second Street in Belmont Shores, I think you turn off the corner at Panama Joe's. It's a bit more expensive than Santa Fe, but they have an excellent selection.

If Dommy! sees this post, she'll know the name.

Yup! One of my favorite places in Long Beach, Angelo's Deli! It's like our mini bay cities. It's not too pricy at all! :) Their Procuitto Sandwich is also REALLY good...

Also, another option for great gourmet items is Olives on Broadway in Belmont Heights. It is a bit pricy though and their sandwiches are 'Meh'
