Good Kid-Friendly Restaurants in Chicago?

I'm new to Chicago and wondering what restaurants in the North Side of Chicago would be kid friendly for a 5 year old and a 7 year old. They need not be exclusively "kids" restaurants, but preferably someplace with a kids menu, with good food for the adults. Any ideas?

  1. I don't have a kid, so I'm not too familiar with kid-friendly places, but I know Wishbone on Lincoln, just north of Belmont, has a "Family" room and an "Adults Only" room, at least at brunch. The food is excellent there and I'd think if they have a family dining room, they'd have a children's menu.

    1. Greek Islands at Adams and Halsted is fantastic and very kid friendly. I love this place! Soup, chicken, seafood, lamb, beef...every dish is better than the next.

Definitely take the kids here. My husband and I have been dining here for 27 years and we started bringing our kids when they were 3 and 6 years old. It remains their favorite place to eat even now that they're in their twenties. The kids will be entertained by the flaming saganaki. They have portions available for children for around $5 (Chicken Riganati comes with high approval.) You can also request quick service if needed.

      2. not sure how far north you are - but I would look at Walker Brothers in Wilmette - great pancakes -

this might be a stretch but Lulu's in Evanston if the kids like asian style - what makes it fun is a great selection of godzilla figurines -

        1. Marche on Randolph has a children's menu. I would think this would be a fun place to take children to with the decor and all. Their website also has the menu (including childrens):

          1. There are two restaurants that we have taken children to that have drawn raves.

First, in the State st. Marshall Field's store is the Frango Cafe - a combination restaurant and ice cream parlor. The food is very good and the ice crean is a favorite.

Second, most kids like foodlife in the Watertower Mall, mezzanine level. foodlife is a restaurant with eight to ten stations that serve a wide variety of cuisine. Everyone will find someone that they'll like.
