Dinner after Wicked in San Diego
Hello Fellow Hounds,
I just bought my tickets for Wicked the smash Broadway musical, 7:30pm this Saturday at the Civic. I want to eat a late dinner after the show. I have Rainwater on Ketner as a back up but could use some other suggestions. I will be wearing a suit so the place has to be decent.

Thanks to all the hounds who made suggestions. Wicked runs three hours with the intermission so I did not have the energy for a full scale dining experience. I walked over to Dobsons and sat at the bar. I had the mussel bisque, veal sweetbreads and oysters Rockefeller. I will post a review on my site next week.

You might try Greystones in the Gaslamp on 5th. We had my daughter's 21st birthday dinner there, and it was OUTSTANDING!!!! Much better than Dobson's, or Rainwaters. I believe it is opened untill 11:00pm.

Greystone is definitely better than Rainwaters - RW has a bad attitude problem, if you're know to them, they look after you, if not, you're out of luck.
Greystone is very good, yes, but it probably runs close to twice the price of Dobsons, and has a very different style. I'd vote Dobsons.
I'm not sure why people are prepared to get mugged by steakhouses to the extent that they do. I'd rather cook a steak myself and have a better bottle of wine at home than do Greystones, but your mileage may vary!
Modus is not cheap either, but probably worth a try.

How about Modus? I haven't been there yet, but it's a new hot spot and pretty close. I rad that they are open late for after theater dining.

We just had dinner @ Modus last night and it was fabulous! Great ambiance, excellent wine and beer list, all the food is made w/ organic ingredients. I had the salmon, my husband had the braised short ribs, and our friend had the steak frites and we all loved our meals! And if you get dessert, the passion fruit tarte is to die for!
