caribbean food in prospect heights

I've been living in Prospect Heights for awhile now and have yet to try any of the Caribbean places in the neighborhood.

I know of a few places: The Islands, Mrs. T's, Christie's Patties, Ginger Root Cafe.

Any recommendations?

i second that - if you haven't tried it yet the islands is fabulous.
three D on washington does really good callaloo and saltfish too.

and honestly - keep on walking past washington into crown heights for more good stuff. or further north up flatbush. one fun place to try is veggie castle on church just off of flatbush - an old whitecastle turned into a caribbean vegetarian spot - with furniture in tact!

Christi's has great Jamaican Patties. i'd recommend getting one with coco bread. however, i haven't visited them at their new location yet so i don't know if they're as delicious as they used to be.

the islands is superb. i've tried the chicken curry, goat curry, and jerk chicken - all excellent.
