NYC-unique gifts

I want to send a thank-you gift to a visiting couple who are in town for only one more night. Do you know of any more unique New York items that can be delivered to a hotel? E.g., bagels, black & white cookies, cheesecake. I'd like to spend under $50. They live in D.C. and Miami.

Eli's does amazing food gifts. (Unfortunately, all but the bread basket bottom out at $100 each.)

A food-related item: ceramic versions of the ubiquitous, blue, amphora-festooned "We Are Happy To Serve You" deli coffee cup can be purchased at many gift shops in the city, or online, here:

They cost about $12 each. These have been a *huge* hit with friends we've given them to.

all great traditional new york ideas.

for newer NY, you could do chocolate from jacques torres.

Speaking about NY chocolate, you can certainly try Kee's Chocolate in SoHo.

Mix and match. $50 can go a small ways if used wisely. ;-)

Pickles?try Guss's or The Pickle Guys. Send a salami to your boy in the army-Katz's. Sturgeon from Barney Greengrass. Also Zabar's has NY giftbaskets including lox, bagels and even the makings of an eggcream.
