I'm looking for the best of the best in Istanbul - from local spots to five star places. Don't know where I'll be staying yet - any recommendations would be wonderful.

Thanks guys,

JW

I would recommend to you the same places I recommended to Soupgirl a month back: http://www.chowhound.com/topics/show/...

However, if you ever decide to stay on the Asian side of the city (though I can't imagine why you would as a tourist), there's a GREAT doner kebab place on Bagdad Cadessi, in Saskin Bakkal. It's actually a chain called Ikbal, but they are independently operated and this one is by far the best one in the city. The turnover is quite high so everything's really fresh and really good.

You could go for an expensive drink and dessert at the Four Seasons Hotel in the old city. It's the old prison (think movie midnight express), they converted it to the boutique hotel...it's a stunning place..and refer my other post... I had the best dessert EVER in there...would probably skip eating a whole meal there as you pay $$ for main course, but the dessert was only like $7-9 USD, and was divine !!!
