Simple gadget for vegetable strips/julienne

applehome Jul 23, 2006 05:37 AM

Here's a $14.95 simple device that does a great job at julienne and long strips. I've been using it to make daikon and carrot strips for pickling - works great!

I have one of those and rarely think to use it. I have a Swiss Moha small mandoline, sort of like the Benriner and it is so quick and easy the julinner stays lost in the drawer. The julinner thing is easy to use if you don't have a mandoline and be careful, it is very sharp.

My sister gave one of these for Christmas a couple of years ago. As Candy says, it's SHARP. I found it kind of troublesome to use, and it can make a rather rough-edged cut. I admit that I don't do a lot of julienning, so maybe I just haven't developed the knack.
