  1. I had a great dish at Prune recently - it was shrimps with the heads on with an anchovy sauce. I can't tell you how much I enjoyed this dish. Highly recommend it (and Prune, in general).

    1. Just FYI: It's such a simple dish that you can easily make that Truffled Egg Toast at home. The recipe (from Jason Denton at 'ino) is in Melissa Clark's Chef Interrupted.

      4 slices white bread (1 1/2" thick)
      8 large egg yolks
Coarse sea salt and fresh pepper
      6 ou Fontina (1 1/2 cups, packed)
1/2 tsp white truffle oil, or to taste

Oven at 450 deg. Toast bread for 2 min.
Remove from oven, scrape out a 3/4" deep depression in the center of each. Slide 2 egg yolks in each hole and season.
Sprinkle 6 tbs of cheese over entire slice and drizzle with truffle oil.
Return to the oven to melt cheese, 3-4 min more. Serve while still hot and runny.

oh the monkfish liver pate at prune is to die for too. buttery and rich. so different and a real treat!!!!!!
        i LOVE prune too.

      2. that truffled egg toast is delish! another great spot for interesting yet simple dishes is falai. you really can't go wrong with the dishes there, and the desserts are just as spectacular, especially the baba au rhum.

            1. Butter and balsamic vinegar in a pan, heated and stirred till it thickens a bit, then over ice cream and strawberries. Pepper optional.

              1. the roasted bone marrow at Blue Ribbon (and BR Bakery), served with toasted brioche, oxtail marmalade (OK, that is not so simple) and sel de mer. And a wooden 'spork'.

                1. Not a particular dish, but the market sides at Westville are fabulous and simple.

                  1. keep them comming you guys never cease to amaze me with you knowledge
