Visiting Vancouver for 4 nights - Please recommend
Hello All,
My wife and I (in our 50's) are coming to Vancouver on Aug. 10 for 4 nights. We are staying on Granville Island. One night is planned but we have three nights we would really like your help planning.
One night we would like to have sushi. In past visits we have gone to Shiro Sushi and really liked it. Should we go back or are there better places to try?
One night we will go out with my cousin and her husband (30's). She is a Vegan and, if it were the 60's they would probably be called "hippies". So we are looking for a vegan-friendly place which is not too fancy, but would also have a wide variety of food, including seafood.
The third night we would really like to find a special place. I won't say that price is no concern as I don't want to go really over the top but I would say that quality of food, service and ambiance are the most important. I have read many posts and I know that there are very many great restaurants in Vancouver. We do have a car. Where should we go?

Go to West for your fabulous foodie dinner. Do a tasting menu with wine pairings. They do an early bird prix fixe that will save you some money if that becomes an issue. But West is arguably the best restaurant in North America and is not to be missed.

For Sushi - skip Shiro and head to Aji Sai. We used to do Shiro, but have not been back since trying Aji Sai Sushi - when ever we do sushi is always at Aji Sai. One thing to note is there is not kitchen = no deepfryer, or cooked food. All you will find here is SUSHI!!!
The place is small, and they are lined up from 6pm on - however the wait is worth every minute. The food is outstanding, price is very reasonable and the service is TOP NOTCH!
Aji Sai is located in Kerrisdale, just off of 41st and Arbutus, next to London Drugs on west 42. (about at 10-15 minute drive at most from your hotel)
