we are coming in for a show and staying at the marriott on michigan. we are going out to dinner with a vendor/friend who we don't want to kill with the bill, but would like to eat fabulously. not looking for cheap, but not looking for MK. only thing out of the question, sadly, is greek town. any recommendations would be greatly appreciated!!

You're in the perfect French Bistro range. Brasserie Jo is very good, and in the area. A little better, in my book, is Bistrot Margot, which is in Old Town - a cab ride away.

You could always do Italian - Volare is in the area (very good, pretty cheap), as is Quartino, which is a sort of Italian tapas place.

Speaking of Tapas...Cafe Iberico is nearby, and quite good for standard Spanish Tapas.
