Santa Fe -- quick easy dinner after late arrival?

We will be arriving in Santa Fe around 7 pm on a Friday evening and checking into the El Rey on Cerrillos Rd. We need recommendations on a mom and pop type NM restaurant where we could have an uncomplicated dinner after a very long drive from Texas.

We've been in Santa Fe many times, and can't think of a place that wouldn't have long waits, complicated parking, etc. Would love to try Harry's Roadhouse but I've read that the waits can be very long on weekend evenings.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks for all the great ideas. We will swing by Harry's on our way into town and check out the wait time, and then visit the other recommendations during our stay.

Harry's wait is minimal. I have never had to wait more than 10 minutes for a table ever. Parking in Santa Fe is not difficult....I think you would enjoy the Cowgirl Hall of Fame BBQ on Guadalupe Street, there are shops in the area and easy parking. Here is their menu and info- http://www.santafenow.com/rest/cowgirl/

That web site is almost 8 years old so take information there with a grain of salt, I saw a number of places listed that are long ago closed.

The Cowgirl posts its menu on this site, that is why I suggested it.

          Try Tecolote or the Pantry.

Tecolote is breakfast and lunch only; they close at 2 p.m.

I totally agree on Los Potrillos. The enchiladas Zacatecas and the mole dishes are very enjoyable. The restaurant offers a whole list of Mexican homestyle cooking - most of it beef and pork which I do not eat - but I see a many Mexican nationals in there eating the homestyle cooking.

You could eat at Maria's for decent New Mexican and rocking margaritas...only a brief drive down Cerrillos. You can make reservations there, too.

+1 for Los Potrillos, for convenience and nice quality Mexican.

Assuming you don't mind Mexican food for this meal, almost directly across Cerrillos Road from the El Rey is Los Potrillos. Very good Mexican, though not New Mexican. It can get busy but any wait will not be prohibitive.

Don't miss Harry's while you are here; early (before 6) on weekends or any time/any meal on weekdays.

Try Diego's in the De Vargas Mall. It's an often overlooked down home, family place with good chile. I've never waited very long for a table either.
