Has anyone tried the relatively new burger place on 14th St (bet 1st and Ave A) called Twisted Burger? It looks like a riff on the Island Burger concept, lots of differently topped burgers, more than it does a classic burger joint, a la Corner Bistro. I'm always on the lookout for a good new burger joint, but I've been burned before, so I wanted to gauge some feedback first.

Keith:
Have eaten there twice so far. The emphasis seems to be on a really good, classic burger (like island burger) with all the options for toppings. The hot dogs are really good as are the shakes. The hot dogs are served in a hollowed out roll so that the dog is almost completely encased in the bread. It is better than I can describe. They take a whole, uncut roll and stick a spike in it and heat it from the inside out. All the toppings are on the inside of the roll. It's a unique type of thing. The owner told me the two most popular burgers are the Vermonter and the Blue Pig. Give it a try and let me know what you think. I recommend it and will go back again when I am in the area.

Went there today...I don't think the people running the place have ever worked in a restaurant before. First off, the set up is weird, you walk in and there should be a host/hostess at the front door to seat you. We had to wait for the hostess to come out from kitchen. (I think our waiter and hostess were both cooks) I would not have thought that this place was table service after hearing about it. There were 3 other tables there when we got there; no one had been served yet. We ordered, got our drinks and then a guy came in from doing a delivery and asks all the tables if they had ordered. Right after that our waiter came out again and said he forgot our order and this time came out with pen and paper. About 5 minutes later he came back and asked how we wanted our burgers cooked. A few minutes later the guy who was out making deliveries came over to the table next to us and told them that their order was never put in and apologized. We finally got our food, it was okay, not worth the wait for what it was. Also, there was a sign out front saying the lunch special was one burger, fries and a coke for $6.49, when we got our bill we were charged for our drink and never got fries. Oh well, their lost, cause I don’t think I will ever go back again.
