Pasteles

  • 3

I'm craving pasteles like crazy lately and I don't have the foggiest idea of where to find them in Manhattan. I'm assuming Spanish harlem? Does anyone have any recommendations for places? I got some pasteles from this small dominican restaurant in Alphabet city which were decent but they had "after effects" in the stomach department. :x I'd like to avoid that in the future. :D

Thanks!

  1. You may have been unlucky. I've often eaten the pasteles from Ignacio Rest. on the corner of D and 1st Street (practically on Houston). No ill effects.

That wasn't the place I got them. It was called Casa Adela, I just checked. Their food was good but the pasteles left my tummy in an uproar. :D

      I'll try Ignacio.

I've been to OSJ several times and I guess I never noticed the pasteles. Are they thick and gritty or are they smooth and greasy? :)

    2. Old San Juan on 9th Avenue makes them. I've never had them, but I like the restaurant.
