Inexpensive dinner in the Annex?

We're going out to dinner tonight with a friend from out of town, and meeting in front of the ROM. We almost always end up at Pho Hung when we're in that area. I like Vietnamese, but I'd also like to expand our options. Any recommendations? We're looking for something casual and relatively cheap- say not over $12 mains. Any kind of food as long as it's good.

  1. Bedford Academy (on Prince Arthur between Bedford and Avenue Road) is good for casual dining at the price range you're looking at. Nice patio and good pub food.

Bar Mercurio (on Bloor between St George and Spadina) is a tad more expensive but the pizza and pastas are worth it.

The Coffee Mill (99 Yorkville) for schnitzel and cabbage rolls. Yum yum.

    1. If you want to walk a couple of blocks west, to Bloor between Spadina and Bathurst, there are a myriad of wonderful choices!

If you want Thai, there is Bangkok Paradise. If you want Indian there is Nataraj. The By The Way Cafe (Bloor & Brunswick) is a favourite for middle-eastern inspired food. New Generation Sushi is great. Kilgour's and Dooney's are both good. If you tell me what you're in the mood for, chances are, I can find it for you in the Annex. And most are right in your "$12 max for a main" price range.

      1. Hi Kyra! I gave this some more thought and here are my newer suggestions...
Saigon Sister (although I think I mentioned it)
        7 West
Foccacia (may be a little pricy)
Fresh by Juice for Life on Bloor (at Spadina)
        Harbord Fish N Chips
Whatever you choose, let me know!

I'll see you at work tomorrow and tell you all about it. Does anyone know the name of that Polish place past Spadina?
