New York Restaurants - with kids?
Going to NY for the weekend to visit some friends, they have a kid, we will have a car.
Where to go in Manhattan or even Brooklyn that the food will be good (innovative, new american will be my selection but open to other cuisines) but the experience for the kid and other patrons is not stressfull?
Try Chinatown, Jake.
There are tons of great, chowish choices. Scan the boards for details. Kids are always welcome.
Mars 2112 is pretty much made for kids...there are rides into space and martians serving dinner.
How old are the kids?
When my sister brings her kids into town (2 girls, ages 4 and 6), we usually go to Gramercy Tavern and sit in the Tavern Room. They don't take reservations, but I've called ahead to check the wait and get my name on the list. They are very accomodating of the kids, special food request, interactions with servers, etc. There usually aren't other kids there when we've been, but we were not at all treated poorly because we had kids in our party.
Also, Friend of a Farmer on Irving Place btwn 18th and 19th has great food and is a little less high profile than Gramercy. The brunch is fantastic, but the wait can be long. They also serve delicious dinner fare without so long a wait.
Of course, if your friends live in the city, they may have some favorite places to go and eat with their kids.
Report back after your trip. I'm always looking for new kid friendly restaurants to add to my own list!
Well, end up going to Balthazar for dinner and then to atlantic grill for brunch.
I was surprised to see Balthazar has high chairs, the service was great as usual and the food too.
The kid is very well behaved (for a 3 yr old) and that made things easier too.
Thanks for the recs!
