How do I freeze chicken livers?

free sample addict aka Tracy L Jul 21, 2006 03:48 AM

My grandmother must be rolling in her grave. I bought some chicken livers for crostini for a special dinner for this weekend but have postponed the dinner until next weekend. Should I freeze them or feed them to my dogs and start with fresh ones next week? Thanks

I don't know how chicken livers freeze, but I would assume they freeze fine since many stores sell frozen livers.

If you are making a pate, one alternative is to make it now and freeze it -- save yourself the time next week. Here is a link to a Jacques Pepin recipe which he says freezes nicely:

You can freeze them w/ no problems. Just freeze in the plastic container you bought them in and defrost in fridge or cold water when you need them.
