The doughnuts--Yum Yum---now being served at our office's morning meetings... suck.
You guys run into anything of note in the immediately Glendale-Burb area besides Krispie K's?
Massive input appreciated.

Dump the donut idea and go to Portos on Brand and Calif. Everyone will love you for it. If you need something round, then get the potato balls. If it must be a doughnut thing, and you want to impress, then drive yourself over to Donut Man on Route 66 (Foothill Blvd.) in Glendora. I take the Lone Hill exit and go west about 4 miles. It's on the N side of the street. I was there a couple of weeks ago and they were just starting their fresh fruit - peaches! - stuffed doughnuts. They're about 3.50$ each and worth every penny. :) KQ

...or the branch on Hollywood Way and Magnolia, which is a damn sight easier to park at and generally has less insane lines. I love Porto's... it's not doughnuts, though, so I didn't suggest it.

The Donut Man, while astonishingly good, would mean at drive of two hours round trip in the morning due to traffic. Even the best donuts in the city aren't worth 2hrs+ drive.

That's okay. In the Burbank heat, nobody quite knows where they are these days. We're all hallucinating. And wondering who the heck wants a DONUT in this heat? What we need are slurpies, Mister Misty, slushes and root beer floats.

Must agree with above re Porto's. Got back on a Porto's kick and have been going there the past several weekends and can't get enough.

Have you tried Original Martino's Bakery on Victory in Burbank? I've been meaning to go and try their teacakes but haven't been able to.

I agree, especially about the mediocrity. You can get the same teacakes at the United Bakery in Burbank/Glendale....the bakery that was started up by former Martino's employees about 10 years ago when the original Martino's folded. United Bakery has GREAT lemon meringue pie but call ahead since they don't always have it.

United Bakery is across from Kelly Paper on Flower near Alameda, not far from the new Home Depot.
