If you need something round, then get the potato balls. If it must be a doughnut thing, and you want to impress, then drive yourself over to Donut Man on Route 66 (Foothill Blvd.) in Glendora. I take the Lone Hill exit and go west about 4 miles. It's on the N side of the street. I was there a couple of weeks ago and they were just starting their fresh fruit - peaches! - stuffed doughnuts. I love Porto's... it's not doughnuts, though, so I didn't suggest it. The Donut Man, while astonishingly good, would mean at drive of two hours round trip in the morning due to traffic. You can get the same teacakes at the United Bakery in Burbank/Glendale....the bakery that was started up by former Martino's employees about 10 years ago when the original Martino's folded. United Bakery has GREAT lemon meringue pie but call ahead since they don't always have it. United Bakery is across from Kelly Paper on Flower near Alameda, not far from the new Home Depot.
