Restaurant Week (D.C)

viperlush Jul 20, 2006 06:40 PM

I have not had a chance to participate in Restaurant Week in D.C. and looking at the list of participating restaurants I am slightly overwhelmed ( http://www.washington.org/restaurantwk/ ). Are there any "must visit" or "must avoid" restaurants on the list based on previous Restaurant Week experiences? I plan to be in Georgetown that week celebrating my birthday and I am looking for a place for lunch. Thanks!

I was thinking:
Mie N Yu

The key to restaurant week is going to places that allow you to pick from their entire menu and...the tunk restaurants (Ceiba, DC Coast, TenPenh, Acadiana) have always done that in the past. Others that generally do this are Corduroy & Ristorante Tosca, I'm sure there are others, but these I know for sure...

If you are dying to go to Vidalia, go ahead, but I would replace Mie N Yu with Corduroy or Tosca

elhofbergo is right on. I have done all of these for RW, except for DC Coast. They're all good, but I would place Corduroy and Tosca as top choices.

I enjoyed DC coast for RW last year

I've also had a good RW experience at Zola. They offer the full menu too.

Avoid Mie N Yu - While good on average, my restaurant week experience last season was sub par, the menu of selection - short and the food - cooked and presented with very little care...

Thank you for your suggestions. I decided to make reservations at Vidalia for lunch because of their location (I want to be able to maximize my time shopping in Georgetown). Although the menu at Acadiana looks soo good.
