Where is the best, CHEAPEST place to buy excellent marinated CARNE ASADA in BULK in the HOLLYWOOD AREA? Does Smart and Final have it? or should I head to Koreatown? Can someone tell me the most affordable place to buy about 10 pounds of CARNE ASADA? I know at RALPH's it's way too costly! Need to know ASAP. Thx Chowhounders -- I can always count on you!

  1. There is a place on Beverly, 2 or 3 blocks west of Normandie, California Market or something, north side of street. They have carne asada, chicken, quail, adobada etc. It has everthing you need limes, onions, cilantro, avocado, cold beer, damn, what time is the BBQ.

    1. might want to go early to get 10 lbs or go now and order.

      1. thank you, the BBQ is at 7pm. i will go now!

        1. There's a store called Busy Bee right near Vermont and Melrose that used to have really good marinated chicken. I know they also have carne asada as well, but I liked their chicken better. :) They changed ownership several months ago and I haven't had a chance to return yet, but prices were good from what I remember. It's a mostly latino store (owned by Koreans) so they also have cheap onions, cilantro, tomatos etc if you want to make salsa too.

          1. Try Jons markets...go to the full service butcher department, they'll hook you up. I also love their marinated chicken drumsticks (with a yellowy adobo rub) if you're so inclined....very, very good.

            1. A little bit out of your perimeters, but the San Antonio market on Alvarado just north of Sunset in Echo Park has good pre-marinated carne asada at a decent price. Good salsas, too.

              1. re: DanaB

A friend of mine recommended a carniceria in Pico Rivera that's is very good. I live in the San Bernardino area and make the drive there on special holidays. I make the long trip 'cause it's that good. I'll be making a trip this Thursday. I don't know the exact address but if anyone is interested I can ask my friend this week.

I'm sure he has, I just needed an excuse to post my favorite place to buy carne asada.

              2. I'm sure Joebizz has found his carne asada by now, but I've been happy with the marinated Carne Asada from the Busy B market on Virgil near Santa Monica. I think it's about $5 a pound.
