near the big hotels in Atlanta

I'll be in Atlanta over Labor Day weekend (plus a few days) for Dragon Con. My husband and I do like to eat well, anything from diner-food to high-end gourmet. What are recommendations for restaurants in the area around Peachtree Center(I think that's what it's called)? We'll be staying at the Marriot Marquis, no car, but not adverse to taking public transit. I'd like one very nice dinner maybe in one of the rooftop restaurants of the hotels. Probably going to Trader Vic's just to get the requisite pina colada:) Any suggestions are welcome!

Not sure you'll find a "nice" dinner in one of the rooftop restaurants, maybe Nikolai's Roof (Russian cuisine), but I can't recommend it.
Best bet from Peachtree Center is to hop on MARTA and eat in Midtown (just a couple stops on the train). Ecco is a new place just reviewed in the AJC today. The reviewer gave it 4 out of 5 stars. It's next on my list to try.

In the Midtown area there's also Baraonda, MidCity Cuisine, Eno....all near the North Ave station or Arts Station.

    Have fun.
