Ft. Lauderdale with group of girlfriends--looking for a fun restaurant

We are a group of late-20s girlfriends coming to Ft. Lauderdale for a reunion. We'd like somewhere we can celebrate with good food and a fun atmosphere.

We thought of Taverna Opa, Samba Room, and Timpano Chophouse and would love feedback about these places as well as any suggestions for other spots.

We heard of a Greek restaurant where there's a lot of whooping and hollaring and plates being tossed on the floor--any chance this is Opa?

Thanks for advice!

That would be Taverna Opa. On busy nights, it has a chaotic party atmosphere.. booming music, people dancing on tables, servers pushing ouzo shots.. and when I was last there, some startlingly good food, not just the usual meze stuff but also grilled shrimp and lamb chops. However there have been a couple of recent reports on here that at least the original Hollywood location may have gone downhill. It's by the water, on the Intracoastal near Oakland Park Blvd. in the northern third of the beach area.

Timpano and Samba Room are at the downtown end of the Las Olas strip. From what I understand, both are pilot locations for chains. I'm not sure how many others of each have been opened, if any. Both are classier and more upscale in atmosphere than Opa.
