Email notification?

Maybe I just didn't look hard enough, but is there a preferences page or a link or something where I can "subscribe" to a particular topic so that I will get notified by email when there is a reply to the post? Some other forums I am a member of have this feature, and it is VERY handy.

  1. no, there doesn't seem to be and i doubt it's in the works. you might just want to track your threads through mychow and bookmark the ones that are particularly interesting to you.

    1. There is actually one in the works! Give just a bit more time, but we are going to make it much easier to get RSS or email notifications for your boards, digest, etc. Coming very soon...

Yes -- you can visit your Settings page (menu is under your username in the top right corner of the page) to turn on email notifications. That setting is on the 'Chowhound' tab. Then you can subscribe to any discussion using the star near the title of the thread.

              Thanks, Jacquilynne.

I wouldn't have found it without your help.

        1. Status report on this?I agree that this would be a very useful feature. Perhaps I'm looking in the wrong places...

And while I'm making my opinions known, I'm a little thrown by the "topic options" pulldown menu. While some are self explanatory (print, send to phone), others aren't so obvious. What about having a rollover that explained what they are (or a "what is this?" link)? "Add to delicious," "favorite topic," and "digg this" all suggest the same thing to me. This always occurs to me everytime I go to "topic options" to look for an email subscription notification.
