The store is on Main St but there is no mention of it on their website. Is it an official branch, or a knockoff?
Yeah, it's a pretty good walk - almost to the LIE. You can easily reach there on a bus. I asked the people at the Bayard store today, and they claim not to be affiliated with them. Ricky's explanation seems very reasonable.
Where exactly is the Main St. locations? Sounds like it's worth a try with the kids after dinner at Joe's Shanghai.
Quite a bit south of the downtown area – walkable in nice weather but not (at least for me) in summer heat: 59-16 Main St. (between 59th and 60th Aves.), 718-353-6889.
The Flushing shop has some different flavors but quality is equal. Not really subway accessible.
They are related, there was a family dispute. The guy who runs the flushing and possibly the noho locations is a member of the family who opened the chinatown shop.
Exactly- about a year / year and a half ago while visiting the Bayard store they were hyping the Flushing location. A few weeks later they were warning us to beware of fakes.
I called the Bayard St. shop and was told the one in Flushing is not connected.
