ISO Italian Ices -- Stamford, CT

I am looking for some homemade Italian Ices in the Stamford area. I know of the place on Madison Ave. in Bridgeport (which are fantastic!), but am looking for something closer to Stamford.

I stopped by Gofer Ice Cream on High Ridge Road today for something decadent (they have excellent soft serve), and a new sign on the door said they now have Italian ices--can't vouch for how good they are, because they aren't something I care for, but the quality there is generally very high--until recently, they sold nice gelato, but apparently it didn't go over that well, so I guess they're trying the ices instead.

Not sure if gelato is in the realm of what you're looking for, but Gelatissimo in New Canaan is fabulous.

The best homemade Italian Ices in the area ARE in New Canaan...NOT at Gelatissimo, which does make great ice cream.

Go to the Canaan Parish Sweet Shoppe, corner of South Ave. & Elm St. Great ices, and while you're there pick up some homemade chocolates for me.

well double-f we finally disagree about food in the 'hood. well maybe not the food. jfood loves gelatissimo and the lady who runs it is wonderful. on the other hand the lafy behind the counter has pissed off jfood soooooo many times being nasty jfood will not give her the business

Oh, we still agree...the lady at the Sweet Shoppe is anything but. However I still love those lemon ices, as do my kids. It's kind of like the Soup Nazi episode on Seinfeld.

She is the Ice Nazi.
