Herbst Theatre recs
So I got tickets to go hear Tony Bourdain on November 20 at Herbst Theatre through the City Arts & Lectures series - very exciting! (Here's the link: http://www.cityarts.net/n.bourdain.html.) Any recommendations for a place for dinner before? It's a Monday, so perhaps some places will be closed? Nothing fancy, just good. Thanks.

hello, the decent-to-good places in the immediate 'hood are pretty fancy (absinthe, hayes st grill, jardiniere), non-fancy gyros king(?) on Grove gets praise too. On my budget, I go a bit further, but really not a great distance, to Larkin (little ho chi minh city, incl. Bodega Bistro). There are Indian and Paki-Indian favorites of this board in the general vicinity too, on O'Farrell ("tandoorloin",a couple of places get mentioned), or Polk (Darbar?) that I need to try sometime. enjoy
