I would appreciate some Chowhound guidance in finding a good
restaurant within walking distance of the Curran Theater in
San Francisco. All suggestions are welcome re. styles of cuisine,
formal or casual. Thanks!

Great suggestion for pre-curtain. Enjoyed the earlier posts on
    Colibri. Thanks.

We've always enjoyed Colibri, and it works well pre-theatre. Very close, and reasonably efficient service that will get you out on time if you mention your tickets to the server.

This from the last time we ate there:

If you can handle a six or so block walk through the Tenderloin, Saha on Sutter at Larkin would be a choice worth considering.

Sanraku on Post is terrific sushi; Original Joe's on Taylor at Eddy is always fun for classic American-Italian, although it's not exactly gourmet.

If you don't mind spending the money, I've enjoyed several great meals at Postrio, both at the bar and the dining room. Though I haven't been there but once several years ago, I like Farallone as well. Again, a pricey place.
