Maine Lobster Meal for not too much $$?

Looking for something reasonable in Westside or SFV or nearby.

Several years ago, this Irish pub in WLA (near SM) on Wilshire used to do these lobster nights, where they'd sell a whole Maine lobster dinner for $12-15, including potato. It was probably a loss leader; the owner had them flown in and sold them til they were gone.

I think there's used to be a few French restaurants, owned by the same people, that had a Monday/Tuesday special along the same lines. One of these restaurants was near Q's on Wilshire, and the other was on Ventura in Sherman Oaks.

Ring any bells? Anything else I'm missing? By "special" I'm hoping for a whole Maine lobster dinner for less than $30.

  1. Enterprise Fish Company in Santa Monica has a Maine lobster special on Monday & Tuesday nights. The special includes a 2-lb. lobster, chowder or a salad, and rice or potatoes for $26.95.

    1. I believe Le Petit Jacques on Ventura Blvd. in Sherman Oaks (a few blocks east of Woodma on south side of st) has a full lobster dinner, 1 1/14 lb I think, for $25 on Sun--Tues. nights. I have not tried it, but I've enjoyed other meals there; it's a comfortable restaurant w/ well-prepared food.

Yeah, that's the place in S.O. I couldn't remember the name. It's good. Glad it's still there -- it's been years.

      2. There's a Wednesday Night Special at Mark's on No. La Cienega for a 1 1/2 lb. Maine Whole Lobster and a few extras for $23.95:

Yeah yeah, that's what I'm talking about! Thanks!

        2. Maybe not quite in your price range, but a good deal is the Palms "80 days of lobster" which ends August 19. You get any 2 salads, any 2 sides, and a 4 pound lobster for $75. If you do the math, that's about $20 apiece for just the 2 lbs of lobster each - cheaper than you can do it yourself. (They also have 5lb for $85 and 6lb for $95, even better deals if volume is your thing).
Don't get carried away with the drinks and this is a great deal.

          1. The Irish pub is near 26th Street and Wilshire in Santa Monica and is now named Sonny McLean's -- used to be McGinty's. Don't know if they still have the lobster deal going on.
