309645 Sat Jul 15 23:52:38 -0700 2006 1 4 Pacific Northwest 0 1747093 For lunch a week ago Friday on our way south from BC we took Chuckanut Dr. (Hwy 11) out of Bellingham on a tip from someone we'd met in our travels. This place is just south of Samish in a gorgeous setting of tall trees. Started with a delicious Cold Avocado Soup then had the Baked Oysters 3 ways (marinara, artichokes & cheese, and sausage & cheese - 7.50). I ordered the Blue Mussels in chili oil w/ fresh ginger and garlic (11), Lady PB went with the Fresh Dungeness Crab Salad (18). The mussels were very plump and tasty, and the salad loaded with quite a bit of great crabmeat. Washed it all down with a couple of glasses of a nice local white which I neglected to make note of. OCI is a little pricey but high on quality and great service. We were told their raw sliders are the best around. Note: if traveling north on Hwy 11 after leaving the flat agricultural area there is another place with a big Oysters sign about a mile or so before you get to OCI. The Oyster Creek Inn is just north and is good for lunch as you feel like you're in a tree house.
