Cheebo - I wanted to like it...

But I didn't. After reading quite a few posts here, the consensus was to go for the pizza. So I tried sausage and fennel and hubby tried smoked salmon with chive crème fraiche. They were both passable, but nothing to write home about. The service was indifferent, yet another case of the bus boys being more attentive than the wait person. The menu looked nice, maybe I'd go back for breakfast, I did spy a montecristo which is always fun to try.

  1. THanks for the report--I've tried this place a couple times and had a similar reaction, esp. about the service.

    1. I have always loved this place. The apple pie is amazing!. Never had the pizza, but the tuna tartar with avacado is wonderful and the salads are good. The salmon as well. Can be very crowded and busy, but always had great service.

Try the tuna tartare at Max restaurant in Sherman Oaks, which is very similar to the one you describe, with avocado, etal. Probably the best one I have ever eaten. Side benefit: there are many other more interesting and better prepared items on the menu than at Cheebo.

      2. I feel ya - oh boy do I.
Here's a link to my review from yesteryear:

I wasn't wowed either, and with a name like Cheebo, I really wanted to be! :

        Thanks for the report -
