Crab Legs in Miami

scscr Jul 15, 2006 03:30 PM

Stone crabs are out of season, but I have a friend in town that wants some crab legs. Where is a good casual place to go for some decent quality crab. I was thinking Monty's or Shuckers, but I'm not sure if I can expect to get anything of decent quality. Any suggestions?

go to joes stonecrab restaurant and have the king crab claws from alaska during their summer session which ends the end of july. They are not open for lunch during this summer session ,nor are they open mon or tues night, and they open at 6 pm (sunday 5pm).They are one of only a half dozen restaurants in the country who sell those alaskan claws rather than the legs.

The Rustic Inn does wonderful things with blue and golden crabs in particular.

In general, go with crab that's fresh and relatively local (i.e. southeastern). Frozen king crab legs that have traveled 6000 miles, for instance, are not South Florida's strong suit.
