Fine Dining Around East Stroudsburg?
I was at a dinner last night and someone mentioned that there are several very good restaurants around East Stroudsburg but couldn't remember the names of them.
We have family in Marshall's Creek and for the life of us are clueless where these might be. Said family are NOT from the fine dining type of people, so they won't know.
Anyone have any ideas? We'd love to know for those times we visit and are not eating all our meals in the in-laws :-)

Why do so many people like the Beaver House? My experience was non plus too. Trails End is good, but the one I was thinking of is in a house before Trails End if it is still there. Always had great Jazz at The Deer Head Inn and their summer Jazz festival was an annual event for me when I lived there.

Oh geez -- we, too, at at The Beaver House about 15 years ago and had exactly the same experience. It was so bad we had tears rolling down our cheeks. A favorite (and still-invoked) memory: my appetizer of Celery au Bleu. Yep, three celery stalks stuffed with blue cheese. Tres francais!!!

Try the French Manor in South Sterling:
http://www.thefrenchmanor.com/This is probably about 20-30 north of E. Stroudsburg.

re: Tonto
We gave The Beaver House one try, maybe 15 years ago. To begin, a Bloody Mary was made with only two ingredients: vodka and bottled cocktail sauce. Sliced steak was served with canned mushrooms and canned gravy. Salad was composed of ice cold lettuce and a few thinly sliced onions, flattened out in the plate, as though salad plates had been prepped on earlier in the day, then stacked, one atop another, and left in the cooler until needed.
Again, this was 15 years ago and we've never gone back. Perhaps things have changed.

I went to a wedding (in the woods) last weekend near East Stroudsburg, my first time in the area. I didn't eat at any of the restaurants though as we were fed by wedding events. I was surprised though to see so many restaurants in the area, big Italian and Steak Houses on the main roads. We stayed in Milford, about 30 miles from East Stroudsburg and there is a new historic hotel there called Hotel Fauchere. The photos that I saw of the rooms were really nice, and apparently the dining room there is among the best. All of the towns around the area seem to have a lot of very good dining options, but I can't help you with specifics.
