Cheap dives in downtown Akron?

monkeyrotica Jul 14, 2006 07:31 PM

Will be attending the Tom Waits show at the Akron Civic Theater Sunday 13 August and am looking for cheap but good dinner. Will have a car, but prefer something within the neighborhood, preferrably within walking distance. Doesn't matter what style, not interested in dazzling cuisine, but prefer the classic greasy spoon. A local watering hole with decent pub grub and cheap booze would be ideal. Are there any signature local cuisines that shouldn't be missed?

You can go to Luigi's which is old-style red-sauce Italin and pizza the locals swear by (I prefer the salad with cheese myself). I would drive, though if you walk with others you will probably be fine. Bricco is right downtown but not a dive and I think closed on Sunday - the day of the concert. See you at the show!
