The bar at the Conrad Hilton in Shiodome - Twenty Eight

A very interesting article about the bar in the Conrad Hilton in this week`s Metropolis magazine.

I have note been, but sounds like a great alternative to the New York Bar in the Park Hyatt Tokyo. Anyone been?

  1. Hmm, I may have been. I went for a sayonara drink with a friend to one of those type of places in Shiodome about 1.5 year ago. Cover charge and 800 YEN for mixed nuts...I think I prefer something more like a red lantern place, off a narrow yokocho with some granny squeezing grapefruits into a glass of shochu. But the bathrooms are probably cleaner at the Conrad...

I was curious about the martinis. I like going to these places before sun sets and watching as the lights come up on the city. The view sounds nice looking over Hamarikyu and Tokyo Bay.

Yes, I have a soft spot for the akachochin places with grandma fondling the fruit too...

    2. Good point. My wife doesn't drink, but she does enjoy a nice classy place with a good view. We'll have to check it out the next time we're in town. I do like martinis...

      1. The bar at the Conrad is nice. For some reason, it feels more relaxing to me than the NY Bar. It's got a nice view of the Hamarikyu garden during the day and the rainbow bridge at night.

I used to work in the New York Bar as the sommelier. Concur, the Conrad is much more relaxed. One, I think is that it is closer to the ground by about 15 floors or so. Also, the New York Bar and Grill is so dark. However, that is all changing as the restaurant is closed for renovation. Curious to see what the new place will be like.
