Does anyone know a.) where the cornnuts factory in Oakland is and b.) do they give factory tours?

that would be the most perfect day to tour the cornnut factory and then go on a brewery tour over at Pyramid in Berkeley.

The company used to be based in Salinas. The plant is now in Fresno, not Oakland.

The manufacturer is Kraft Foods. You could ask about factory tours using the form below.

I remember that they were based in Oakland back in the '80s when I was a student at Berkeley. A friend of mine was obsessed with Cornnuts and kept writing them about taking a tour (remember the pre email days?). Whenever we were driving through the area, he'd insist on driving by to savor the smell. They would always send back polite replies to his letters declining his request, citing company policy, and some times they'd even send him a bag of Cornnuts. I think they may have thought he was a child (though he did always type his letters). I had heard they were bought out by Kraft, but I didn't realize they had relocated. I guess the age of the 'nuts you just ate may depend on when this ocurred...

I wonder if Anabelle's candies gives tours? I think they're in the East Bay somewhere, and still independently owned...
