We used to have a regular Friday lunch there. The food was generally pretty good, although it started to slip a few months after the place opened. We finally stopped going after a particularly bad episode; all the entrees looked like they had been prepared by a short-order cook, and the fish and chips were the worst I had ever tasted (and I'm British).
The establishment, by the way, is owned and managed by Reed Clemens, previous owner of the Bitter End across the street. It would appear he has not kept on the same kitchen staff.

I've had a couple of good meals at Chez Nous in the past few months so I recommend it.
At Capital B., the only item I consistently like there (my friends like the place so I go more than I like) is the burger with bacon.

re: Carter B.
At Cap B's the Bacon Cheeseburger is damn near Casino quality...but not quite there just yet.A friend and I tried the Sunday Brunch menu yesterday and it was a mixed bag.For 17 bucks you get a an entree option,a basket of "homemade breads"[I'm doubting the homemade part particularly the IQF croissant] and endless Mimosas. My over medium eggs came from the pan of a novice cook.Outside was crunchy, inside runny, not inedible but teetering....the oven roasted potatoes on the side were uneven, some perfect, some partially raw.The flat-iron steak my companion had was nicely charred and came the requested medium rare, the french fries were good and plentiful. Our server was a jewel, fast and nicely interactive and the best part:from France.

re: scrumptiouschef
My service there was so spotty I decided against ordering anything beyond my steak tartare app. Wine knowledge was lacking by the college kid behind the bar, although most of the staff was friendly, if just a little unattentive. The tartare was rather tasty, and more of a pate consistency, which is something I don't typically prefer, but this one was good.
I scoured over the menu for about an hour, watching others' plates come out, and nothing really turned me on. Could've been my mood that night, who nose.

I've been to Capitol Brasserie twice for dinner, and have been disappointed both times. I've had the onion soup, roast chicken, profiteroles, salad lyonnaise, and one of the mussel dishes. Everything seems overly salted - kind of feels like corporate food to me. The environment is a bit sterile as well - in fact I assumed I was at a chain restaurant when I first dined there. I was intritued by the regional menu, but haven't been there on a Thursday. Don't know if I'll go back. I've never been to Chez Nous and have heard mixed reviews, but plan on trying it soon.

I've found the kitchen at Capitol Brasserie to be really inconsistent. I've had some decent (not memorable) meals there but as an example of the bad, my poached eggs at brunch were nearly raw (clear whites when cut). If a brasserie can't properly cook an egg, what good are they? I'm beginning to think they have serious kitchen problems.
