cheap italian brunch?

So my weekly Sunday brunch has expanded, and it's getting harder to accommodate everyone's tastes.

The consensus for this week appears to be Italian food. But there are major restrictions:

-has to be cheap
-has to allow groups of roughly 8
-has to serve eggs benedict (one guy eats nothing else)

Any ideas?

Though you don't indicate what you mean by "cheap," I'll take a stab at a suggestion.

Cascina, on 9th Av., b/t 45th & 46th Sts., a fairly large place with nice atmospherics, should easily be able to accommodate your group. I've only had lunch there, not brunch, and the food was very good. Brunch is a la carte, main courses range from $11-$16, and eggs benedict is on the menu.

Since eggs benedict is a must, you might want to use the Find-a-Food search function on menupages.com to locate restaurants in various neighborhoods that have it on the menu. You can then see if any are Italian and fit your price range.

orologio may be worth a try. i've never been but awhile back was looking for brunch spots that can accomodate 8 ppl in LES and it was recommended. If I remember correctly, the brunch special was priced under $10. I'd call and ask about the eggs benedict. or ask them to fax a copy of their brunch menu.
