Going to the Grotto tonight for the first time. If there any can't misses, I would appreciate your input. Thanks.

  1. Pastas are lovely here: at least get an app-sized one, or split a full as a mid-course. The gnocchi with short ribs is astoundingly rich and delicious; cavatelli with sausage is also superb and rather rich. The $30 prix fixe (app, entree, dessert) is a very good deal. Wines are decent, cocktails so-so; hit No. 9 Park first if you want a really fine pre-dinner drink.

    1. Thank you. I was planning on trying the gnocci with short ribs. Also, thanks for the suggestion regarding the $30 deal. If we have time, we will definitely stop by No. 9 Park for a cocktail.

      1. I can't believe I'd ever recommend ordering spaghetti and meatballs, but this was seriously the **best** spaghetti and meatballs that have passed my lips. I'm still thinking about it six months later!!!

        1. D really enjoys the fonduta while I prefer the gnocchi to start. Spaghetti and meatballs are also great - they have an excellent sauce. Skip the crab ravioli. I really dislike the grilled tenderloin, but it has its fans. The duck and trout are also quite good. MC Slim hit it on the nose with drinks - careful with your selection of wine.

Definitely agree w/you & Slim, skip the drinks.

          2. Try the Dulce De Leche for dessert. It's seriously rich and fantastic. Kind of like drinking hot butterscotch pudding with homeade whipped cream. Then again, with the whether, see if they'll make it cold.
