Brunch for 40 people, under $1000 on Westside?

I need a place to host a brunch for 40 visiting people that will cost under $1000 on the Westside. Any tips? Ethnic ideas are welcome. For example, one option I have considered is Monte Alban because it offers something that the out-of-towners cannot get at home most likely.

You might try VIP Seafood for dim sum. I haven't been there for quite some time, but it was a decent alternative to Chinatown many years ago. You should probably post for recent info.

There is also J. R. Seafood for Chinese that is supposedly half way decent on the westside. Again, post or search for recent reviews.

The Talpa, on Pico in West L.A. is a favorite of mine. This is a somewhat Americanized Mexican restaurant with a very home-cooked vibe. It's in your price point, including lots of beer, but it is not very fancy and you'd probably end up occupying most of the restaurant.

Honestly, these aren't the most creative rec's but, since you haven't received any others, I thought I'd at least try to help get the ball rolling.
