Mid-October arrival, three nights(Fri.-Sun.), one of which will be an anniversary dinner. Assuming I won't be able to get a table at the French Laundry, what else would you recommend?
Looking at Amer. Contemp.(2 nights) and French for the big night. Cost no object. For the AC, looking for something similar to North Pond here in Chicago.
If you feel that some other place should not be missed, please mention it! Thanks

The go-to place for "cost-no-object" -- at least for the last year or so -- has been The Dining Room at the Ritz Carlton. You do a search you should turn up several detailed descriptions of meals there. I don't know how to categorize what Ron Siegel is doing there -- maybe New American with Asian influences.

Boulevard is solid New American. And you really should go to Chez Panisse, just to see what it's all about.

I highly recommend Restaurant Gary Danko.

Two places to consider are La Folie (French) and Boulevard (New American). Both have excellent preparations of foie gras which I'm sure you'll be sorely missing by mid-October.
