Need info...best tamales in Santa Cruz...
Going down to the Farmers Market for the first time tomorrow and would like to sample the best tamales SC has to offer?
Any help is appreciated....the more authentic the better
I'm no tamale expert so can't speak for "authentic", but the chicken tamales at El Rosal in the Live Oak area are very good. They only have chicken and I believe are made daily and available around 11 or noon. They likely run out by the afternoon since they don't make that many.
Here's a link to a recent report w/ my report linked in my response:
Given that you'll be downtown, it's probably more feasible for you to visit El Paisano on Beach St. across from the Boardwalk. I haven't been in a long time, but they are known for their tamales and have a few to choose from. Please report back if you go...
Has anyone had the tamales from the deli case at Deluxe Foods in Aptos? Are they as good as they look?
