kimbop (korean)

can anyone recommend a place that sells good kimbop (basically the korean version of california rolls, for lack of a better description) other than the grocery and take-out stores on 32nd street? i've had the kimbop at KoFoo, which I thought was pretty good. thanks!

The best is e-mo which is mentioned above. They make it fresh and put a slight amount of sesame oil on the outside. That is true to tradition. Does anyone know their hours?

although i'm not a fan of dok suni in general, their kimbap is excellent. it's sliced very thinly and includes a bit of meat(though you can get it without), which is how my friend's mother and grandmother prepared it. a lot of the places around 32nd st serve fatter rolls with crabstick. someone told me that this is a regional difference, though i don't know if that's actually true.

You can get kimbop in a zillion different ways. cut thin, thick, rolled thin or thick, with any combination of ingredients. I've never found great kimbop in the states (aside from the stuff mom makes). That is what this city is lacking...an awesome kimbop joint!

Dok Suni on First Avenue in the East Village has kim bap. I have not tried it there, but generally find their food decent so I think that it would be worth a try.

          Hi there,

Have you been to the place that makes the kimbop fresh while you wait? Were you not a fan of that? I think it's on 32nd between Broadway and 5th. It's on the south side of the street. That's the only place where I'll buy kimbop.
