Fabulous birthday cakes for $25 or under?

Searching for a bakery that sells good-to-great $25 birthday cakes that can feed 7. Any suggestions?

  1. Unfortunately, your budget would yield you a tiny cake, I'm thinking 6", but that small size should give you enough servings if quite small.

If I were in your shoes, I would probably head down to Umanoff&Parsons ( ) and get one of their ready-made cakes. (Their custom birthday cakes are beyond your budget.) They mostly wholesale, including to Fairway and FreshDirect, but they have a retail store at their factory in Tribeca. Quality is good but not mind-blowing -- sorry, I don't know anywhere that will get you mind-blowing for under $25.

Your other alternative is a half sheetcake at Costco. It was named in the Saveur100 as a fantastic cake and a good bargain. Also, you can get an assortment of cupcakes from the various cupcake emporiums in the city (I like Buttercup). Good luck.

    1. Billy's Bakery in chelsea makes a fantastic cake. Their two layer, 8 inch would feed 7 people comfertably. It's a little over your price point @ $28, but it's also a REALLY great cake w/ buttercream frosting that's perfect for birthday's.

      1. sugar sweet sunshine is one of my favorite bakeries, and they have a 7 inch two layer cake for $22.

the almond buttercream frosting is delish! they're on rivington near essex.

        1. Little Pie Company sells a Mississipi Mud Pie that is unreal. 10" for $21.

Hey! That might be a Umanoff&Parsons cake!

          2. You could probably find something at Billy's, Amy's, or Little Pie Company that would fit within your budget and be delicious.
