This place called Caribbean Treahouse serves excellent Trinidadian food- including goat roti.

Tigeorges' (309 Glendale Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90026, (213) 353-9994). I know they serve goat (and it's pretty good), and I think they do roast pig on weekends (which I've yet to try). Nothing earth shattering, but a nice, neighborhood Jamaican place with the friendliest owner you'll ever meet.

Totally second this suggestion, lots of fun. TiGeorges is a lot of fun, Haitian, live music Saturday afternoons, last time we were there, rocking Afro-Cuban jazz quintet...which cheered even the most stalwart Brazilian world cup fan. Ti Georges is closed Sundays but if you promise 10 or more people & reserve, George will gladly open the house back up.

I was underwhelmed by TiGeorge's the last time I went. Got the chicken but it was really nothing special. I would like to love it -- it's so close to me.

maybe, since you live so close, you should give TiGeorge's another try and consider telling him the chicken wasn't so good -- or consider asking for dark meat only. My dark meat was better than the white meat which was a little dry. George seems really eager to please...and I agree, I went in there wanting to like the place from all I heard and read.

I much prefer Trinidadian Roti over its Jamaican cousin and most Trinidadian expats will agree that CARIBBEAN TREE HOUSE serves the best local version.
David, I don't want to come across as some sort of uppity dork but, in the interest of accuracy, I believe TiGeorges' is Haitian through and through.

I stand corrected. (And what's a couple of hundred miles, between friends?)

TiGeorge's is indeed Haitian and it's a really nice hole in the wall. The Sweet potato pudding (pain patate) is the stuff erotic dreams are made of (or at least, sadly, mine are).
