Destin/ Fort Walton
We ate at the Seagrove Village Market for dinner last night. It was only fair. The bake potatoe was awful, left over from luch. The fried oysters were good and the grilled grouper was good. The grilled shrimp was only fair. Dinner was pricey ($18)for a hole in the wall kink-of-place.
My favorite is Harbor Docks - fresh catch everyday. Their lunch menu has Asian influences that are very good.
I've heard mixed reviews about lousiana lagniappe and it is expensive.
I second Captain Dave's. Also, Pandora's is good for both meat and fish.
Cafe 331 and Red Bar are excellent (no credit cards, though). Small menu but very well done and eclectic environments.
Smiling Fish Cafe and Seagrove Village Market for lunch.
Cafe Tango for awesome food and service.
McGuire's Irish Pubis a loud and raunchy place - but they make a primo prime rib and really strong drinks. McGuire's is located on 98 East at the Destin Pass Bridge (which takes you into Ft. Walton). Next door is a good pizza place with thin crust - Ciao Bella Pizza
A favorite of mine that is really cheap is the Rib Shack - 605 E 98 8508379314. They make some of the very best BBQ in North Florida. It's divine.
My most favorite place to eat is Guglielmo's. They are not to be missed. Owned by a family, they have been in the area a very long time. They own Ciao Bella Pizza, but also have LA Dolce Vita, 4942 HWY 98 West in Santa Rosa (8506221119) and La Fiamma 529 East HWY 98 in Destin (8506549880). They are somewhat fancy but not too much so. Entrees start at around 15.00 and go up to 31.00. If you like escargot then you must try theirs - it's great. It's a special place that serves delicious northern Italian. They also have an Italian market where you can get some of their entrees to heat up at home.
Marina Café has won numerous awards - it's located at Destin Harbor 8508377960 and runs on the expensive side.
Captain Daves is very popular seafood place that is right on the beach. Menu items start at around 16.95 a plate and go up to 35.00 It's located at 3796 Old Highway 98 in Destin - 8508372627
I agree with you on the seafood though - it's hard to find any more.
dewey destin, magnolia and big city just ok;i live on the beach
in destin and eat at crab trap in destin often-food is good at reasonable price.i have lived on the fl coast more than
just returned from baton rouge and new orleans;try creole/french influenced cuisine at lousiana lagniappe- excellent(destin)and acme oyster house (sandestin)
Red Bar and 3-Thirty-1 are good to hit if you're venturing into Walton County.
Unless they're improved things in the past six months, Crab Trap is more about the view than the food.
In Ft. Walton proper, the Magnolia Grill is generally pretty good. I've also heard good things about Big City.
Nim's by the Destin Publix is somewhat hit or miss for Indian, but when they're on, they're very good.
Dewey Destin's is our fish sandwich back-up place when we don't feel like going all the way to the Red Bar.
